You have to live and / or work in a CH postcode area to join Wirral Credit Union. This is what’s known as our common bond.
Savings Account
You can open a savings account easily by Joining Online. The online joining process requires you to make a £10 initial deposit which will credit your savings account. Applications to join Wirral CU made using the online portal will be processed within three working days, you will then receive your confirmation letter and new member information in the post. Wirral Credit Union reserves the right to request further documentation to support your application.
Join & Borrow
We now offer new members the option of joining and applying for a loan at the same time. All our loan repayments have a savings element built in, enabling members to build their savings pot even while repaying a loan.
Starter Loans
Starter Loans of up to £500 can be applied for online by new members, once repaid you may then become eligible for our Regular Saver loans. Typical APR is 42.6% Click here to join and apply for a Starter Loan
Family Saver Loans
Family Saver Loans of up to £500 can be applied for online by new members and are repaid via your Child Benefit. Once repaid you may then become eligible for our Regular Saver loans. Typical APR is 42.6% Click here to join and apply for a Family Saver Loan
NB. There is a £5 annual administration fee payable by all qualifying members, this is deducted from members savings account in June each year.
Individuals wishing to save via payroll deduction
Upon receipt of your membership application and any other required documentation, Wirral Credit Union will contact your employer to initiate deductions from your salary at the next available pay date. We are currently only able to provide this service to employees of the companies listed on our Payroll Deduction Scheme page. If your employer is not currently providing payroll deduction saving as a valuable staff benefit they can contact us for more information on becoming a Wirral CU payroll partner.
Individuals wishing to save via standing order
Upon receipt of your membership application and any other required documentation, Wirral Credit Union will send you a Standing Order mandate for you to sign and return to us at our Poulton Road address. Any changes you wish to make to the amount you save, or the date the standing order is taken, must be authorised by Wirral Credit Union. Please contact us before changing your Standing Order details.
Individuals wishing to save via Child Benefit
Upon receipt of your membership application and any other required documentation, Wirral Credit Union will send you details of how to have your Child Benefit paid directly into your Wirral CU Savings account. Once we have received your first Child Benefit payment you may be eligible to apply for our Family Saver Loan. A loan of upto £500 that can be paid back over 3 – 12 months and includes a savings obligation that will help you build a savings pot for the future. Individuals wishing to save via regular small cash deposits
Small cash accounts are available by application in person at any of our branch offices.
Join in person
If you don’t want to apply for membership online then you can download and print the application form, complete all of the details asked for and call in person to any of our branch offices or post to our Poulton Road branch together with the following:
- Proof of Identification (Photo ID. Eg, Driving License, Passport etc)
- Proof of Address (Utility bill, Bank Statement, Council Tax Bill etc dated within the last 3 months)
- Proof of Income (Most recent wage slip, benefits/pension book etc)
- £10 initial deposit which will credit your savings account as an opening balance
