Supporting the Wirral beyond community finance
Gain confidence and receive practical support in managing your money.

Improving lives in the Wirral community
For us, community impact means actively creating the small improvements in people’s lives that build, step by step, a healthier and happier community for everyone.
It’s giving support when someone needs it and sharing knowledge so people feel confident with their money.
We spend time in the community, building long-term relationships and working alongside groups and volunteers to help make lasting improvements in people’s lives.
It’s people helping people, every single day.
Where we help in the community
We work in schools, workplaces and local hubs across the area, supporting every part of life as a trusted community credit union.
-

Volunteers sharing knowledge and guidance
Our Community Champions are local volunteers trained to guide people towards the right help. They act as community finance advocates in workplaces and local groups, sharing knowledge about money and the services Wirral Credit Union offers.
-

Teaching money skills from an early age
We run workshops in primary schools, teaching children about money basics and financial risks. Year Six pupils take part in the Fiver Challenge, where they become entrepreneurs to create a business using our sponsored £5 to see how much profit they can achieve. Every child in the Wirral and surrounding area deserves to finish primary school feeling confident about money.

Helping members take control of their finances
We regularly support members one-on-one, helping them move from financial difficulty to stability, build savings, access fair loan opportunities and avoid illegal or high-cost lending.
Our team also collaborates with local community groups and organisations like the England Illegal Money Lending Team, founded by Stop Loan Sharks, to ensure support reaches those who need it.
Reaching and supporting more people
As a community credit union, we grow by building on the programmes that work best for people locally.
More Community Champions will be trained, reaching workplaces and community groups across the Wirral.
We’ll be getting involved in more schools, giving children the skills to manage money confidently from a young age.
We also invest time into being more visible in local hubs and through partners like Stop Loan Sharks.

Join a community credit union
You can join if you live or work in a CH postcode. Getting started is easy. Apply online or visit a local branch, and our team will guide you through it. There’s an initial £10 fee, which we’ll credit to your savings account.
